Lucia walking toward a Gadgets phone repair shop next to a pawn shop in a strip mall.

GTA 6 Store Robbery

Short answerPress preview

Local stores are the bottom robbery tier in GTA 6: convenience stores, gas stations, phone repair shops — any store you walk into, none of them blipped on the map.

Go in the back with a snap gun, kill the cameras, and crack the back-room safe with a code a fence may text you.

A quiet store robbery, step by step

  1. Lucia walking toward a We Do Repairs phone shop beside a pawn shop in a strip mall.

    Pick a target

Any store works. Bigger targets come from tips, story contacts, or a map blip showing the estimated take.

  2. Lucia and Jason in bandanas walking down a liquor store aisle.

    Go in the back

Kicking the door sets off the alarm. A snap gun — a lock-picking tool — gets you in quietly.

  3. A robber in a skull mask raising a submachine gun in a room lit red, from Trailer 2.

    Kill cameras and alarm

Destroy the cameras so nobody sees you, then disable the security system so the alarm stays off.

  4. Lucia in a red bandana and Jason in a mask walking down a store aisle, from Trailer 1.

    Crack the safe

Back-room safes need a code: work it out, overhear a pedestrian, or get it texted by a fence.

  5. A store clerk tackling Jason to the floor mid-robbery, his pistol still in hand.

    Watch for heroes

Clerks, guards and customers may try to stop you if you slack.

  6. A customer in the doorway of a corner store, an ATM against the wall, from Trailer 2.

    Bank it

Cash goes to an ATM, duffel bag loot to a fence. Die with cash on you and you can lose it.

Low-level robberies never appear on the map as robberies. TGG lists a local phone store, a convenience store and potentially a hair salon as fair game, and Nelson adds that "the little gas stations and stuff are not even on here".

Inside the store

We approach through the back entrance so we won't be spotted, but kicking the door down would trigger the alarm. We have a snap gun — a special lock-picking tool — so let's sneak inside instead.

Destroy the security cameras and nobody can see you; disable the security system and the alarm stays off. Then you can quietly empty the register and walk out with nobody knowing.

Some stores hide a safe in the back room. The code comes three ways: work it out, overhear a pedestrian, or have a fence text it to you — TGG watched a fence text one to Nelson.

Clerks, store security and customers can try to be the hero if they see you slacking. TGG saw it several times, so no two robberies play the same.

One Extended Look hold-up is at a Food Mart with a rusted sign: Jason and Lucia, faces hidden by bandanas, face a cashier holding a shotgun behind protective glass, then run, according to GTA 6 Hub.

Loud or quiet

If you behave with restraint, it's possible to escape without killing anyone.

Game Informer's cover story says robberies go loud and fast, or quiet and slow, and how far you escalate sets the police response.

Firing near people instead of at them scares them off and buys time to escape, and it keeps your Criminal Profile on the professional side.

After the job

On a hired job you can deliver the loot together or send Lucia alone to the person who hired you.

In the getaway, one partner drives and the other shoots — you pick who you control. Pull over, take the masks off, and the police lose the description they were hunting. The GTA 6 wanted level page covers the rest.
